Katie Hooper had a big year for Cal State Northridge softball in helping them clinch the Big West title and on Tuesday, the sophomore from Burbank High was named Big West Player of the Year.
Hooper led the conference in home runs (15), runs batted in (55), slugging percentage (.741), total bases (129) and extra-base hits (29). Her RBI total is one shy of tying the school record.
A total of six players received honors from the Big West. CSUN will play at UCLA on Friday in the first game of the NCAA Tournament at 5:30 p.m. as part of the regional involving San Diego State and Texas. Day 2 of the regional will be Saturday
